The gift of wonder
Wonder is not a soft word in our work. It is what happens when a child who has been told the world is only the street in front of the house discovers that a page can hold a river, a city, a science, a joke, a life unlike their own.
GiveReads treats books as public goods for children who have been priced out of them. A donated novel or picture book is not décor. It is a low-cost, high-leverage tool: it can be reread, shared, and kept when a workshop ends and the visitors leave.
We ask donors to fund that gift without requiring a child’s face as a receipt. Dignity is part of the program. The wonder belongs to the reader.
