About the organization
GiveReads Charity Incorporated
A domestic New York not-for-profit corporation. A federally recognized public charity.
Who we are
GiveReads Charity Incorporated exists to provide books and educational resources to children in impoverished countries. We treat literacy as a development intervention: a child who can read is better positioned to stay in school, to work, and to participate in civic life.
The organization was formed under New York Not-for-Profit Corporation Law §402 on July 13, 2023, as a charitable corporation (Department of State ID 6936334). The Internal Revenue Service determined that we are exempt from federal income tax under IRC Section 501(c)(3), effective the same date. We are classified as a public charity under IRC Section 170(b)(1)(A)(vi)—a publicly supported organization—not a private foundation.
Mission
To bridge education gaps by placing books and learning materials with children who otherwise have little or no access to them, and to do so with the transparency expected of a U.S. public charity.
