GiveReads exists to put books and educational resources in the hands of children who otherwise have little access to them. That sentence is easy to print. It is harder to honor in a packing room.
A book becomes a souvenir when it is chosen for a photograph, written in a language the child cannot read, or left in a carton that never reaches a shelf. A book becomes a tool when a child can return to it — in a classroom, a small library, or a home that will keep it dry.
Three tests we use
- Can this child read this language, or grow into it with a teacher?
- Will the copy survive humidity, backpacks, and shared use?
- Is there a place to put it after we leave?
We do not publish invented counts of books shipped. Until a Form 990 series return is public, restraint is part of the program. The work is still the chain: collect, move, place, read.
