The IRS letter is unambiguous: GiveReads’ accounting period ends December 31. Some third-party directories have listed a November year. They are wrong. Donors should trust the determination letter, not a scraped profile.
We are required to file Form 990, 990-EZ, or 990-N. Organizations with modest gross receipts often file the e-Postcard (990-N). That is not an exemption from accountability. Three consecutive years of non-filing bring automatic revocation.
When a return is public, we will link it from Accountability. Until then we will not invent a budget, a Charity Navigator score, or a count of children served.
That posture is not smallness. It is how a New York public charity should speak on the internet.
